Runneryd - Yta för alla
My master thesis project - focusing on site analysis for developing principles of socially maginalized communities.

The essay seeks to nuance the picture of how places like Runneryd are perceived. Through the use of site thinking, a case study examines the neighborhood Runneryd in Nässjö - an area consisting of several modernist apartment buildings built in the 1950s and 1960s. The neighbourhood is experiencing socioeconomic decline, alienation from the city due to percieved insecurity as well as small and worn down appartments.

The analysis outlines the basis of four principles for how nuanced areas like Runneryd can further be developed. These are (1) Utilize open spaces, (2) Adapt housing stock, (3) Create smoother transitions between environments, and (4) Dissolve mental barriers. The development principles have been used to create a design project based in Runneryd in which these are applied.
